Our Aims

Who we are

The BEIA Inc is a collective of professional wedding and event industry leaders from the Byron Shire and surrounding region. We are
dedicated to the industry and supporting the businesses to ensure longevity for a greater future. Our association supports council and venues including rural and commercial as well as providing a network and resource platform for businesses and suppliers. We recognise our industry is influenced by many facets and trends, and this ever changing environment requires ongoing attention. We are here to work and trouble shoot through ideas and policy for the greater good of this dynamic and prominent industry.

Current Goals

The BEIA is currently focusing our attention on the following areas. We encourage communication within the industry so please contact us if there are any areas that you feel should be investigated.

RURAL & COMMERCIAL VENUES

Byron Rural Strategy Planning LEP 2014
The current LEP has no policy for operational consent and we are here to form a voice for the industry as a whole. We look forward to discussions with council and workshopping an achievable policy, alongside adapting and implementing sustainable industry standards, which are transferrable across venues and operators.

Accreditation/Approval of Operators
The Byron Shire has seen many changes over the years and the event industry has survived and sustained this region due to highly skilled and quality operators implementing standards to all of there operations. The association is encouraging the development of a quality control certification so that we continue to provide and operate under these standards.

Accreditation/Star rating of Venues
The unique nature of venues both private and commercial, are what makes the event industry so vast and diverse. Not all venues fall within a current industry standard, which may be required. Therefore quality control can be difficult and misconstrued by owners and operators. The BEIA Inc are developing a checklist and potential impact and recommendation report in order to streamline the
consideration process for new and existing venues. This in-turn will set a level of standard that give assurance and recognition to licencing and permit authorities, as well as customer satisfaction certainty. Items on this checklist would be:

  • Transport + Parking
  • Noise impact
  • Health & Safety
  • Personal Public liability
  • Building code
  • Environmental impact
  • Capacity
  • Other unique requirements based on location + venue

EVENTS/ FORUMS AND WORKSHOPS
We will be endeavoring to create and develop industry events that are formative and educational. These will be unique events surrounding up and coming trends and associated information for business in the region. Priority and advance ticketing will be available to our Members along with discounts and benefits for our public forums and special events.
